This animation was made for the Australian Antarctic Division for presention at the 2012 Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) in Hobart, to show the scale and nature of the rare ice-free zones of the Antarctic continent. The aim was to convince international policy makers to maintain the Antarctic Treaty,"Recognizing that it is in the interest of all mankind that Antarctica shall continue for ever to be used exclusively for peaceful purposes and shall not become the scene or object of international discord".
